This Fall, we are launching a new experience: The “COMMAND PERFORMANCE SERIES”
This new series honors Dr. Ed Command, Highline President from 1990-2000, and his vision to connect the community to Highline College.
The quarterly series will each time focus on an entirely different topic. You might be learning about earthquakes and geology for one quarter… the Des Moines Marine environment the next. Another night might be spent dancing to a battle of the bands or dueling pianists… who knows. Stay tuned … and watch where this new series goes..
The first installment in this series will showcase a ‘True Crime Listening Event’, led by the creative team behind “The Shadow Girls” podcast. Carolyn Ossorio and Branden Morgan will discuss their ongoing mission to share stories of “imperfect witnesses.” One of the stories you will hear is of the only woman to survive the Green River Killer, who came forward with a tip that would ultimately lead to the GRK’s capture. You will also be the first to view never-before-seen photos from the investigation.
You will hear from noted criminal attorney Anne Bremner along with King County Sheriff (ret), Dave Reichert and King County Detective Tom Jensen who will discuss investigations and how the systemic neglect and dismissal of survivors has incalculable effects on victims, their families and society.
Come join us for this one-of-a kind event:
5:30p-6:30pm Cocktail hour w/no host bar and complimentary appetizers
7p-8:30pm Program w/opportunity after for pictures w/panelists

Their award-winning “True Crime Listening Event” is a rare offering to the public.

She joins the Command Performance Series panel to bring a legal and victim-advocacy perspective to the discussion of investigations and the treatment of survivors.
Tom Jensen
Retired King County Sheriff’s Detective Tom Jensen joined the Green River Killer investigation in 1984 and remained closely involved with the case for nearly two decades, eventually becoming its longest-serving investigator. After retiring, he returned as a consultant as the case against Gary Ridgway moved forward, bringing years of accumulated investigative knowledge to the effort. Jensen joins the Command Performance Series panel offering an investigator’s firsthand account of the case and its continuing legacy.
Dave Reichert
Dave Reichert was a detective in the homicide and robbery unit in 1979.
In August of 1982, he was assigned to the first Green River case: the murder of Debbie Bonner. Her death was the tipping point in a grueling 20-year hunt for one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history.
Reichert served as lead detective on the original Green River Task Force from 1982 to 1983. As the lead detective during the enhanced task force from 1984 to 1990, Reichert and the entire task force worked tirelessly to find the killer until the unit was disbanded in 1990.
But the case was never far from his mind. Upon becoming King County Sheriff in 1997, Reichert formed a third task force that ultimately secured the arrest and conviction of Gary Ridgway...unmasking him as the Green River Killer. Dave later transitioned to politics, serving seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Reichert detailed his investigation in his book, "Chasing the Devil," donating all proceeds to help drug-addicted infants.
